Gwinnett Championship reaches out to military

The Greater Gwinnett Championship Presented by Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, an official event on the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour, today announced that QuikTrip will sponsor the Patriots’ Outpost for members of the U.S. Armed Forces attending the April tournament.

The new Patriots’ Outpost presented by QuikTrip, located on the 18th fairway, will be open Friday through Sunday to members of the military and their families. Guests will enjoy complimentary QuikTrip sandwiches and pastries, snacks, and Coca-Cola refreshments.

“QuikTrip is honored and humbled to sponsor the Patriots’ Outpost for the 2015 Greater Gwinnett Championship,” said Kevin Thornton, Atlanta Division Manager. “We consider it a privilege to recognize and show our gratitude to the active and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces attending the tournament. Everyone at QuikTrip has tremendous appreciation for their honorable service and sacrifice.”

In addition to access to the Patriots’ Outpost, all active duty, national guard, reservie, retirees, and their dependents will receive complimentary admission to the tournament Wednesday through Sunday. Veterans will receive one complimentary ticket to the tournament Wednesday through Sunday. All types will have the option to purchase up to two discounted guest (non-dependent) tickets per day.

“We’re honored to not only provide complimentary tickets to military members, but now a special hospitality experience for them and their families” said Greater Gwinnett Championship Executive Director Stan Hall. “The men and women who serve our country are heroes and deserve the best from the Champions Tour and Greater Gwinnett Championship.”

Military status must be verified online to receive tickets to the tournament and access to the Patriots’ Outpost, with military members encouraged to complete the SheerID registration system prior to the event.

Through Birdies for the Brave, a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR, there will be additional activities for active duty military members at the event, including the opportunity to serve as caddies for Champions Tour professionals during the State Bank Pro-Am on Wednesday, and military pageantry featuring an honor guard and uniformed military personnel announcing on the first tee and tending the flag on the 18th hole on Sunday.
